The path to wedding day was not a straight one for Dean and Courtney. It involved many years down a long and winding path before their wedding day finally arrived in September of 2017. But what a beautiful journey it had been and what a lovely day it was shaping up to be. Unseasonably warm for Michigan with a touch of fall permeating the air it was the perfect recipe for their outdoor venue.
The groom and his many groomsmen and dear family members prepared for the day in what I can only imagine is the ideal way for any groom. Drinking frosty cold ones, playing a little corn hole and enjoying a cigar or two. Meanwhile, the girls and I spent a few hours at the salon, sipping wine and sharing in girl talk. While they were preparing, a talented team of family members was turning the venue into Courtney’s indoor garden, with a touch of their rustic roots. By the time they were done her vision had come to fruition in the most beautiful way – right down to their birch tree cake.
Before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony to begin. As with all weddings, there are moments wedding photographers look for. Key pieces that tell the story of the day. For me, one of my favorite moments is the minute the groom sees the bride. Although it was an outdoor ceremony, Courtney’s father had constructed a beautiful entrance for the bride to walk through, so Dean’s first look was perfect. My favorite part about it though? How excited the groomsman were for him. Each one, in turn, looked to Deans face for the reaction the moment his saw his bride. And the smiles on their faces say everything to me. Another of my favorite moments was watching the bride’s father hug her before stepping down. The love on his face was so real, so evident.
I had a birds eye view of their wedding day, and I have to say I think it was worth every long and winding mile to get there.
Congratulations Dean and Courtney! So proud to capture your day, even more, proud to be your sister.
A beautiful wedding day would not be possible with family, friends, and a team of talented vendors:
