Before their engagement photos Shea, Chase and I met up at JTs Seafood Shack a few miles from Washington Oaks where their session would take place. If you’ve never been to JTs, definitely go, it was delicious and the service was awesome. It has this great “old-timey Florida” feel as I like to call it. I had never met up with clients for drinks before their session before but I have to say it may just be my new policy! We had such a good time getting to know each other better and swapping life stories. It was a great way to break the ice before the engagement session began.
Shea and Chase actually met about four years ago on a dating app. A few months after that Shea introduced him to her family and her dad took an instant liking to him. (Always a good sign!). The rest, as they say, is history. Today they’re planning their wedding on the same piece of property they will build their first home on. It’s going to be a beautiful outdoor garden theme and I can’t wait to photograph it.
Right about the time we were ready to head over to Washington Oaks, ridiculously dark storm clouds rolled in and we were suddenly on a time crunch. The beautiful light we had just a few minutes before was gone and it was getting dark fast. Unfortunately, it was too dark beneath the beautiful Oak trees that we had come for. But we managed to create some beautiful photos together in the rose gardens. They were amazing sports the whole time even while the bug spray I brought did almost nothing to combat the mosquitos and biting flies. Looking at their engagement photos you would never know we were continuously pausing so one of us could swat at a random bug!
